Templates support two functions: -

  1. They export Portfolio information to 'static' HTML pages for web browsing.
  2. They provide the response templates available to the PortWeb web server plug-in when returning queries to the user.

If at this point you haven't read the manual references above, I recommend strongly that you to do so.

A very important point for PortWeb users to note is that when serving a Catalogue, it can only find and use the templates stored in that Catalogue alone. It is 'blind' to templates in other Catalogues or stored externally in a folder.
