Can I sort on any field?

You are not able to sort on any of the following:

• Path field
• URL type fields
• Multivalue fields (including Keywords or custom MV fields)
• Text block fields (including Description)

Helpfully, the Sorting palette and Sort by Other dialog do not list fields that may not be sorted on and are thus your best reference if in doubt.
