Drag-copying the application, when mounted to an SMB volume (instead of AppleShare/AFP) modifies the application in such a way that will cause a crash of the application on startup. (C) SERIALIZATION AND REGISTRATION ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is important to register your copy of Portfolio so we can provide you with the best possible service. Registered users of Portfolio are eligible for technical support, information regarding new versions and products, discounts and special offers on new products. Your serial number is located in one of three locations: on the Portfolio CD sleeve, on the product packaging, or was sent to you via email if you purchased through our website. Enter that number to personalize your copy of Portfolio. If you choose not to personalize your copy, Portfolio runs in a demonstration mode that allows you to use the product for 30 days. You can purchase additional serial numbers from Extensis Customer Service. NetPublish includes built-in image search, preview and download capabilities. The NetPublish client application also provides Portfolio 7's Create Webpages feature. Please review the "Portfolio 7 NetPublish Read Me" file for more information about the Create Webpages feature in Portfolio 7, the NetPublish Assistant, and the NetPublish Server. (F) COMPATIBILITY AND TECHNICAL NOTES ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 6 catalogs can be used with Portfolio 7, after they have been converted. To convert, simply open the catalog in version 7. We strongly recommend you create a backup of your catalog before converting it. Version 6 Saved Views and HTML templates are not supported in version 7. The Saved Views feature has been expanded to offer additional layout and display controls. Static and dynamic webpage generation is now handled by a new Extensis product, NetPublish, which has a new template system that offers greatly expanded functionality for making webpages and websites. Catalogs created in version 6 with an Index node size set to less than 3K in the Preferences cannot be converted to version 7 before their block size is converted. Please see the Extensis Technical Support Knowledge Base (available on the Extensis website) for information on this topic. This version of Extensis Portfolio is not yet internationalized - meaning it may not support some high ASCII characters or Japanese text. Please check the Extensis website for an International English release, coming soon. If you have been using Portfolio version 6 in OS X, you will need to associate Portfolio's catalog file type with version 7 in order to double-click a catalog file on disk to launch Portfolio 7. To do this, Control-click on a catalog file, choose Get Info, choose Portfolio 7 from the Open With pop-up menu, then click the Change All button. Zip or JPEG compressed TIF files are not supported in this version of Portfolio. They do not thumbnail, and they are not supported in the Batch Convert Images feature. TIFFs with spot channels do not convert properly in the Batch Convert Images feature. Portfolio does not offer thumbnails or previews for images saved in the Photoshop PSB image format (large document format). These files can be saved as a TIF for use in Portfolio. Layered Photoshop files are supported in Portfolio if they are saved with Maximum Compatibility in Photoshop. If they are not saved with maximum compatibility, they may not thumbnail or preview correctly. Long catalog names may be truncated when served from Portfolio Server. OS X translates dates differently than in past versions of Portfolio. You must now use four-digit dates, when working with Date fields in Portfolio, for these fields to display and sort properly. When opening a catalog in the Express Palette application, if it is already open in Admin mode in the Portfolio application, you will receive an error indicating the catalog could not be opened. In Portfolio, switch out of Admin mode to open the catalog In the Express Palette application at the same time. Microsoft PowerPoint is required to be installed to generate thumbnails for PowerPoint files. Currently, the Saved Finds feature will only save finds with an "and" operator, not an "or" operator. When a Saved Find Is selected In the Find Palette, everything will be configured properly, except the and/or pop-up menu-which you can modify to complete the find. This will be addressed in an upcoming release. User level switching is not currently working when you switch from a default open preferences of Reader or Editor Into Publisher. Closing the catalog, changing your preferences to open catalogs In the Publisher level will aloow you to open a catalog In Publisher mode. ------- Extensis Portfolio software program copyright by Extensis, Inc. 1997-2004.
