(E) TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PORTFOLIO 7.0.6 NETPUBLISH ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Supported browsers for NetPublish and Portfolio sites are Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac and 5.5 and 6 for Windows, Netscape Navigator 7 for Mac and Windows and Safari (as shipped with OS X). Some functionality in sites may only be supported on Internet Explorer for Windows. When a site contains functionality not supported on all supported browsers, the site description will contain a note indicating this, and there will be an alternate page option which does not contain the functionality. NetPublish client: - Windows-Uninstalling NetPub won't uninstall "Preview" folder located in "My Documents" - Some additional files are being published, including unnecessary stylesheets in the resources folder. These files can be deleted without negatively impacting your website. Portfolio 7 Create Webpages: - Some additional files are being exported, including unnecessary stylesheets in the resources folder and a libraries folder containing a .np file with NetPublish JavaScript. These files can be deleted without negatively impacting your website. NetPublish Sites/Server: - If a site or page xml file has been opened in Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver must be closed in order for NetPublish to delete the site. If dreamweaver is left open, the site remains on the system, even when it no longer displays in NetPublish administration. - Windows-Installing to a location other than the default location is not supported. - Displaying the "Path" field in any page of a site is not supported at this time. - You will need to assign the service a user account that can access network volumes if required. By default the service is given local system privileges only. See the NetPublish user guide for complete details. - Assigning a new listening port after install requires a restart of the www publishing service and the NetPublish service. - To remove additional page styles created, you must manually remove the page folder from your hard drive. - Sites created using the Create Webpages feature in the Portfolio client are not supported in NetPublish. - Sorting in results and collections pages does not work properly when using a multi-catalog alias. Extensis hopes to address this issue in future versions. - When overwriting a published site using a mac client, and when you are using a different catalog, the catalog alias is not overwritten but instead the new catalog is added to the alias. This occurs for shared catalogs. - Viewing a site in Netscape could give you an error of "Bad Request" if using the machines IP address. To resolve this, use the machine name instead. - Some of the sites may not function correctly if using your machine name instead of your IP address. If you see problems with your sites, use your IP Address to possibly resolve these issues. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316112 - When overwriting sites, you may not see changes to the new site until you close your browser and re-launch it. - Downloading a file using "&download&macbinary" to preserve resource forks will download the file with the wrong extension. The extension for the file needs to be .bin which will create the correct image file when extracted. You can manually change the downloaded file extension to .bin or use "&download&macbinary&filename=filename.bin" - Publishing a site from the 7.0.6 client to a 7.0 NetPublish Server will display errors in your site. Please upgrade your NetPublish Server to 7.0.6 before publishing 7.0.6 sites. ----- (c) 2005 Extensis, a division of Celartem, Inc.
