WELCOME TO PORTWEB 5.0.1!

PortWeb 5.0.1, a web server plug-in, is an easy-to-use add-on to
the Portfolio 5.0 asset management system which enables web
browser-based users to browse  Portfolio catalogs. PortWeb
establishes a connection between a web server application, a
Portfolio Server, a SQL Service, or a Portfolio catalog on disk to
provide a truly dynamic link between web-based users and Portfolio
catalogs, so they can quickly search up-to-date Portfolio
information.

1. System Requirements

3. What's New in PortWeb 5.0.1

 - Cross platform search functionality has been improved.

 - Windows users can now import HTML templates when using the
   Export HTML feature.

 - Catalog with user based passwords can now be used with PortWeb.
   The proper syntax to use when enabling catalogs with user based
   passwords is user:password.  I.e. if the Portfolio user's name
   is Jenny and password is duck, the password field for that
   catalog on the adminshow page would be Jenny:duck.

Using the Uninstall utility (Windows only):
In order to remove PortWeb you will need to run the Add/Remove
Programs option from the Control Panel.  Be sure to stop your web
server before proceeding with the Uninstall.

5. Software Technical Notes

 - You will only be able to perform PortWeb searches on indexed
   fields.

 - There is a known bug in WebStar (version 3.0 and up) where
   turning on Verbose Logging causes Post arguments (i.e. form
   data) to be lost!  With Verbose Logging on, a crash will occur
   when using adminshow, and you will be unable to display results
   without crashing the application.

6. Manual Addenda

 - To increase the plug-in memory under AppleShare IP 6.3, the
   instructions are slightly different than stated in the manual:
    1) Open the Mac OS Server Admin application and connect to your 
       server.
    2) Choose Configure Web Server from the Web Server menu.
    3) Switch to the Plug-Ins tab.
    4) Increase the maximum plug-in memory usage by 3000K.
    5) Restart the web server.

 - For the PortWeb tutorial, please use any one of the pre-existing
   galleries and continue following the instructions given in the
   manual.
