(E) TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PORTFOLIO SQL CONNECT _____________________________________________________________ For optimal performance, it is recommended that the Portfolio client and Portfolio Server be installed on different machines. SQL Connect: When switching a served SQL catalog from level based security to user based security, the Portfolio Server must be restarted before any users can connect to the database as an Administrator. When items are deleted from a catalog, all of their keywords remain in the catalog. Extensis provides a script that removes unreferenced keywords upon request. Please contact technical support for more information. We have implemented a performance workaround to the MySQL implementation of row counting which indirectly updates the items count field at the top of the gallery window every 30 seconds. As a result, performance is much improved but there is an up to a 30 second delay in updating the items count in the user interface when adding or removing items from a catalog.
