(A) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Portfolio SQL Connect 7.0 requires:

Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2K3
Pentium III or AMD Athlon (1ghz or better)
- P4 or AMD Athlon XP (2gz+) recommended
256MB of system RAM
- 512MB+ recommended
TCP/IP Services
Portfolio Server 7.0
MS SQL Server 2000 or MS SQL Server 2000 Desktop Edition

The Portfolio 7 SQL Connect files are required to be installed into the  Portfolio 7 Server directory structure.  The Potfolio 7 Server should be installed prior to installing SQL Connect. The following files are added:

(E) SERIALIZATION/REGISTRATION INFORMATION

After installing Portfolio 7 SQL Connect, you will need to serialize the product by going to File\Administer Server in the Portfolio 7 client and clicking on the Serialize button.

(F) TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PORTFOLIO SQL CONNECT

DBA Tool:

The DBATool fails with the following error when converting the SQL schema from version 6 to version 7: "Cannot rename the table because it is published for replication". There are two ways to work around this problem:
1. Use SQL Server Enterprise Manager to delete the publication(s) that include the Portfolio tables
or
2. Export all tables and data from the production database into a newly created empty database. Then perform the DBATool conversion on this new database.

SQL Connect:
When switching a served SQL catalog from level based security to user based security, the Portfolio Server must be restarted before any users can connect to the database as an Administrator.
